The care of “Amazing Grace” Kittens. Cubs from "Amazing Grace" Cattery
are raised primarily on Diamond’s Naturals “Active Cat” formula or “Taste of the Wild” Feline
formula. This is one of the most nutritious cat foods on the market (grain free), and "Amazing Grace" cats
thrive on it. If you do live in a remote area where unfortunately getting premium food is a problem then the best second choice
that can be gotten at most grocery store would be Purina One Healthy Kitten but if you can get the other then I highly recommend
the other be what you feed. While it may seem more expensive than the generic grocery store brands, it really is not.
It is more concentrated, absolutely NO fillers or additives so cats do not eat as much as they do grocery store brands.
Also, the litter boxes smell nicer since the stools are firmer, and does not need to be cleaned as often because they do not
fill it up as fast with those fillers, the food is used for nutritive purposes not waste. Should you choose to change food (I strongly suggest you do not), make sure you do not
abruptly switch from one food to another. Instead, mix the two together and gradually switch from one to the other.
Otherwise, the cub's system may become upset and diarrhea may result. Please make sure you are feeding a premium brand whatever
you choose…no cheap junkfood. We recommend feeding dry food to help maintain healthy teeth
and gums after kittens are about four months of age. Up to that time, we recommend feeding a nutritious canned food
(Science diet-AD which is found at Vets only or Kitten growth formula sold at Petsmart) once a day in addition to the dry
food. On the subject of wet food, they need a little wet everyday as that is where part of their hydration
is gotten and my choice for adults are two great brands of wet food. One is Wellness Holistic(Salmon trout flavor) or Wellness
Core and the other My favorite is Eagle Pack Holistic(this is my preferred brand and I feed Turkey Barley but any flavor will
do .if you live in a remote area but still can reach a Walmart then Newman's organic wet cat food is acceptable as well and
can be found at most Walmart stores (or Amazon.com has a great deal on the auto-ship program) , also I add ¼ tsp eagle pack holistic solution
enzymes with probiotic for optimum health also to keep a strong immune system I recommend Vetri-Lysine Plus soft chews chicken
liver flavor and can be given like a treat, most cats love it. Do an on-line search to find a distributor in your area)…I
also feed Raw ground turkey and raw ground rabbit (this is my pick but double ground with the bones in the mix and I add Missing
Link Feline supplement in the mix) can be fed after 8 weeks old, about the size of a meatball per day. Feline Zupreem in the
can is always a good substitute if you don't like to feed raw meat but I do recommend occasional chicken livers ,hearts and
gizzards as high percent Hybrids do need organ meats once in a while for optimum health. I grow cat barley
grass in a large shallow square planter for my cats as well and should be considered as a good thing to do for indoor only
cats. Cats should never be fed table scraps, as this can often lead to obesity and possibly diabetes. If you become
concerned that a young kitten is not eating properly, try giving it strained organic turkey or chicken baby food mixed with
rice baby cereal w/iron. Kittens love the taste and will often eat this when they will eat nothing else. I have included
a recipe for Kittens glop in case of a kitten losing weight, this will help put weight back on…it is like Jello for
kittens. Quick note: I use a Drinkwell water fountain for their water source and if your kitten doesn't seem to want to drink
from a bowl then most likely he wants fresh filtered running water as that is what they are used to here . "Amazing Grace" Cattery uses very
finely ground corn as my litter in a large litter box for expense sake ( I have so many cats it is more economical and I toss
it out on the cliff to feed my free range chickens so no waste), I get an awesome brand called Ze Amaizing kitty litter for
$9.50 for 20Lbs bag. You can go to their website www.uniongrovefeed.com to the Distributor Locator to find out where it is
nearest you, it is comparable to "The World's Best Cat Litter" at less than half the price and I like it better. Never
use Clay litter, it is detrimental to the health of your kitten (dust in the lungs) and if ingested can kill them by creating
a blockage in the bowels, it is also a health hazzard to humans( dust in the lungs as well). Cats may sometimes be picky about
litter. If you want to change litter (any litter but clay), mix the two brands together and gradually make the transition
to the new brand. While your new cub is litter box trained, it is important that no bad habits be formed
when the cub is first introduced into your home. While you may plan to give your new cub the run of your entire home,
you should first enclose the cub in the room where you plan to keep the litter box, or, if this is not possible, in a small
room such as a bathroom. Once the cub feels comfortable, you can gradually open the rest of the house to him.
This gradual process will ensure that your cub does not find himself afraid in a strange part of your house when it comes
time to use the litter box and instead finds a hidden corner to use. Cats are, by nature, fastidious animals.
However, if one is too frightened to find the litter box, bad habits may result. Also occasionally you will find a cat who
wants to have his own litter box and will refuse to use the communal box in a multicat household so keep more than one box
if necessary. Your new cub will require the same vaccinations as any other cat. We strongly
recommend with these cubs, as with any kittens, that they receive vaccinations in one month intervals( 2 shots in the beginning
then yearly boosters) or longer and that you always use Purevax vaccines by Muriel. Giving vaccinations too close together
can be detrimental to the health of the cub. The vaccine we use for Panleuk/Calici/Rhino and Rabies (I do not give FeLV
here as my cats never go outside to be exposed to Feline Leukemia but do recommend it be given) is of the Pur Vax by Muriel
or if hard to find a Vet using that then call ahead to tell them to order the vaccinations especially for you from US Vetserv
on-line (they are located in Raleigh, NC), kitten dose is .5cc not the full 1 cc given an adult cat for booster. If you have further questions
about the care and feeding of your new cub, please do not hesitate to e-mail us. We enjoy hearing from you, and encourage
photo updates. The cutest ones are posted on my Kitten gallery page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

gelatin; set aside. Mix egg yolk with small amount of milk mixture and beat well. Add gelatin and water to milk
mixture and beat well. Add in egg yolk mixture and beat well. Pour into a freezer safe bowl or similar type of bowl
with a cover and set in refrigerator. We usually use Ice Cube Trays for our glop gelatin. This will last for two weeks
covered in refrigerator. Always warm pudding to room temperature (milk form) before feeding. It is very rich in
calcium, and pectin, this pudding can be used as a supplement for kittens, sick cats and show cats to put on weight. Several
Veterinarians have approved this recipe as being balanced and nutritious.
